Illegal Drone Operations – A Threat to Air Traffic Safety

Recently, we have noticed a surge of illegal drone operations, which directly threaten air traffic safety and operations of the emergency services of the Republic of Croatia.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that in the Republic of Croatia, all operations of drones that are not classified as toys have to be registered, and that every drone flight has to be authorized as a legal operation via the AMC Portal.

The registration on the AMC Portal and the authorization of the operation is completely free, and by using the AMC Portal, you will never be in a situation to pose a threat to other airspace users. That is why we, once again, urge all drone operators to register their UAS activities via the AMC Portal system to make the vacation time and summer peaceful and safe for all of us. In the first place, the illegal use of drones is irresponsible behavior, which can constitute a(n) (criminal) offense, depending on its consequences for the general safety and the safety of air traffic, privacy protection, and environmental protection.

By flying drones illegally, irresponsible drone operators endanger the safety of aircraft, crew, passengers, persons, and property on the ground. Another thing to bear in mind is the start of the fire-fighting season, which often requires the effort of air forces, which can prevent greater damage at a certain moment, where each illegal drone flight at that moment can obstruct the air force operations. That means that the irresponsible drone operators directly influence the consequences of the damage and dangers to which persons and property are exposed.
